Clifton Shallow Form Series
• Clifton shallow height water baths for life science operate with low liquid level suiting small bottles, micro tubes and micro plates.
• Low profile designs allows easy access to samples and improved visibility.
• Small samples easily seen and not obscured by high sided baths.
• Uses less water and energy.
• When shelf fitted, working depth is 6mm
Traditional Style
• If using a conventional water bath the minimum liquid level for accurate operation is above the height of small bottles tubes etc, often requiring the extra expense of additional raised shelf.
Features and Benefits
The shelf is a low height design maximising the working height.
Safety Features
• Thermal cut out fitted in the heater.
• IP rated clear booted on/off power switch.
• Bath fitted with non-slip rubber feet.
• Over temperature alarm automatically set 4˚C above set temperature with visual indicator and heating is turned off protecting samples from overheating.
Energy Consumption
0.33kWh @ 37°C
(Based on NE2-5D)
The lower the figure, the less energy used. Information supplied for size and range comparison, guidance only and measured consumption at set point. Please remember that the energy consumption may vary due to factors such as location, ventilation, ambient temperatures and loading. ShallowBaths™ with smaller volumes of liquid use less energy.
Controls
Featuring bold LED display of measured temperatures in real-time, increments of ±0.1°C, using precision PID temperature control. Settings retained even after turning the unit off. Easy to use splash proof controls, touch keypads for setting temperature values with indicators for heating and over temperature alarm. Features auto setting over temperature alarm protecting samples at set temperature. Every unit undergoes a factory calibration at two temperatures for validation.
Heating and Sensors
Heaters and temperature sensor are concealed under the tank providing an easy to clean working area. The heating footprint covers the underside of the tank and with a low mass provides rapid energy transfer, resulting in quicker heat up times and a reduction in energy consumption and improved temperature uniformity.
Heating Information
Above 60°C it is recommended that to achieve optimum performance the bath should be covered with a lid or layer of polypropylene spheres – see accessories. Covering the bath with a lid reduces energy consumption and running costs.
This range of baths will operate at 99°C however are not designed for continuous boiling, the NE1B boiling bath range is recommended.
Clear Lift Off Gable Lid
Clifton clear gable lids help reduce evaporation, assist in keeping samples in a water bath free from contamination and save energy. These gable lids with a high profile allows extended use of the bath, right into the edges of the tank. No drip points to contaminate samples. The lid design ensures all condensate returns back into the bath. Insulated handles for safe use.

Stainless Steel Flat Lid
When fitted, this lid prevents contamination of liquid from airborne particles. Can also be useful when a Clifton water bath is ‘in use’, minimising heat loss, saving energy, and assisting to maintain bath temperature ready for the next application. The lid is fitted with an insulated handle.

Factory Calibration record must be ordered with equipment.
- Factory calibration record.
- The completed calibration record will be enclosed at the rear of the instruction book accompanying the Clifton unit carrying the following information:
Unique record number for traceability. Serial number of the unit. Instrument it was checked against. Calibration temperature and actual sensitivity results. - The measurement of uncertainty ±0.8°C. Ambient temperature 21°C ±3°C.
Notes:
- The calibration record provides a measurement of precision about set point with maximum and minimum sensitivity readings obtained. Precision is defined as “(1) The ability of a measurement to be consistently reproduced” and “(2) The number of significant digits to which a value has been reliably measured”.
- The calibration record does not provide or assures any form of accuracy. Accuracy is defined as “the ability of a measurement to match the actual value of the quantity being measured”.
