Features and Benefits
Safety Features
• The under/over temperature alarm is automatically set 4˚C above and 4˚C below set temperature. When in alarm condition, the indicator illuminates and actual bath temperature is shown. If bath is over temperature, both heating and stirring are switched off. Once liquid temperature has fallen or risen above/below the alarm setting, the indicator clears and actual bath temperature is shown.
• Features a low liquid level float switch, which ensures heating is switched off if the liquid falls below the recommended level – display will show “FiLL”. Heating is switched off but stirring continues. To reset, carefully top up the liquid to the recommended level.
Energy Consumption
0.5kWh @ 37°C
(Based on NE4-14D/CT)
The lower the figure, the less energy used. Information supplied for size and range comparison, guidance only and measured consumption at set point. Please remember that the energy consumption may vary due to factors such as location, ventilation, ambient temperatures and loading.
Controls
Featuring a bold LED display of measured temperatures in real-time and in increments of ±0.1°C, using a precision PID temperature controller. Setting for water temperature only or combination of temperature and time. Timer setting variable in 1-minute increments from 00:01 (hh:mm) to 99:59 (hh:mm) with “end” message on completion of the timed period. Time and temperature settings are retained in the memory, even after the unit has been turned off.
Heating/Cooling Information
For cooling a water bath use an accessory immersion cooler DC1-300 refer to Accessories. Where bath temperatures are below ambient we recommend a mix of glycol and water. We also recommend a layer of spheres for insulation. The water bath should be used in ambient temperature 20°C. For water temperatures above 60°C we recommend that an accessory layer of spheres are used for optimum performance. This will reduce evaporation and a lid will keep the samples and water free from contamination. Optimum performance saves energy by reducing electricity consumption and running costs.
Stainless Steel Test Tube Racks
Laboratory test tube rack, stainless steel 304 spec 18/8 non-magnetic, bright finish. Supplied flat packed ready for assembly. Can be cleaned with detergents, ultrasonics or autoclaved. Durable and stable in use with looped handles for easy retrieval from hot water baths.
• NE4-14D/CT = 3 racks
• NE4-22D/CT = 5 racks

Immersion Dip Cooler
Designed to be used in conjunction with a Clifton stirred or circulating water bath, the DC1-300 features a flexible 900mm long pipe. When placed through the aperture on the top of the bridge unit the stainless-steel cooling coil naturally stands in the corner of any Clifton NE4 stirred or circulating water bath. This maximises the working area within the bath without sacrificing the working area.
The immersion cooler runs continuously providing counter cooling with the bath providing temperature control from ambient to -20°C (subject to bath capacity). Always cover the water bath with a lid or BP0368 polypropylene spheres. This reduces energy losses by up to 70%. Doubling this layer of polypropylene spheres improves this further.

Factory Calibration record must be ordered with equipment.
- Factory calibration record.
- The completed calibration record will be enclosed at the rear of the instruction book accompanying the Clifton unit carrying the following information:
Unique record number for traceability. Serial number of the unit. Instrument it was checked against. Calibration temperature and actual sensitivity results. - The measurement of uncertainty ±0.8°C. Ambient temperature 21°C ±3°C.
Notes:
- The calibration record provides a measurement of precision about set point with maximum and minimum sensitivity readings obtained. Precision is defined as “(1) The ability of a measurement to be consistently reproduced” and “(2) The number of significant digits to which a value has been reliably measured”.
- The calibration record does not provide or assures any form of accuracy. Accuracy is defined as “the ability of a measurement to match the actual value of the quantity being measured”.
